WHAT IS GAMEATHON?

Gameathon is an annual event where people get together and make a game over the 24 hours and this year......its going to be bigger!!


The event is organized by the Department of Information Science and Engineering, Jyothy Institute of Technology under BitsNBytes.
It is an annual exhilarating contest for beginners and veterans alike to develop their innovative ideas into an engaging game. This gives an opportunity to every eager Game Developer to learn and master the skills required to create their own masterpiece.

About the college
Jyothy Institute of Technology was established in the year 2011 under the leadership of Karnataka Rajyothsava Awardee, Dharmika Pravara, Late Dr. B.N.V Subrahmanya, visionary par excellence. It all started in 2018 when 15 teams were quarantined for 24 hours in an auditorium with all beautiful minds working towards a specific goal "WINNING GAMEATHON 2K18"! It has become an yearly ritual, every year becoming more and more competitive and creative minds coming together! Can't wait to see what the game developers are upto this time!!

I was into game development and in mid of a class I go, "Hey boys why don't we organise a game development event?" And the boys go, "Yup! Let's do it!" Sitting in our usual last benches, we came up with Gameathon! I am amazed and happy to see it growing by our juniors and the best part is they are even more enthusiastic about it! I am so happy to still be a part of it and contribute as much as I can!

Gameathon is a 24-hour game creation marathon event. It is a platform for aspiring developers to bring together their ideas into a game that they can call their own. They are supposed to create a working game that fits the given theme.

A week of (optional) paid training will be provided to participants on the tools and software used for game development.

Yes, a team of 2 to 4 members is required to participate. If you are alone and you are interested in finding one, we will do a group forming event at the beginning of the event in which everyone will be assigned to a team.

Gameathon provides a lot of other experiences next to making a game. We like to hang out, do fun social activities, welcome mistakes and not be too serious about our presentations... It is games after all :-)

All the participants will be awarded e-certificates. But cash prizes of upto $1000 are up for the grabs, with winners for different categories.
